There is just something about that first week at an new job, school, or internship that is frantic and destined to be marked in memory. Because of everything I've had to learn, my brain is just not capable of processing much more. It's a sad state of affairs, but it'll calm down within the next week or so, I'm sure. Heh. I keep thinking of it in terms of a computer...most of my RAM is being used to filter and grasp the constant incoming information, so I don't have enough to do much else. :P I should also mention that the wonderful extraction tech (Stephanie) is only a year older than I am, and she and I have become fast friends. There's a hilarious story from Friday about a really fidgety person from a clinic that apparently had the Patient From Hell(tm), and needed us to pick up their sample IMMEDIATELY. Steph and I went because we had finished the day's extractions a little early. Her car was full of exactly the same types of music you'd find in mine. Hehe. After a brief chat about school and grad school in the car, I successfully located the clinic and samples. We then decided to call it a slightly early day and go get coffee. It turns out that she is very involved with Kappa Kappa Psi (the band fraternity) and loves webcomics and videogames. I'm going to try to get her a copy of FF6. :P She's also suggested that I get Trillian(sp?) instead of annoying AIM, which I think I'll do.
The weekend, as I'm sure everyone can guess, was very lazy. I did get up early and go to naginata practice today, and that is always a wonderful experience. I really do enjoy mornings, just not when I'm not used to them and not after a late night. Even driving there is calming and peaceful. It's beautiful to be up and about when most of the world is asleep.
Dawn of Mana has consumed a lot of my free time recently, when the internship hasn't. :P That game has enemies so cute, it's hard to even play it unless you're in a twisted evil mood. And in other video game related news, for those out there that follow the Myst series, I believe the main family line is plagued with a horrible genetic disorder that makes some of them irrevocably insane with severe delusions of grandeur. It's probably the near inbreeding that occurred after the D'ni died out. Inbreeding causes a lot of problems. That is one thing I've learned from studying genetics. Lots of severe problems.
George and I also came to the conclusion that we really need to rip off VGcats and do a video game commentary comic of our own. It'd be awesome. :P
