A much needed update
Oct. 2nd, 2006 07:32 pmUh...hmm. Where to start? A lot has gone on in the last couple weeks that warrants an LJ update. I think I'll start with the most recent stuff and work my way back.
It sounds like George will be visiting for my birthday! w00t w00t! I'll show him Vitas, and he'll giggle hysterically, and it will be amazing. If anyone knows of any awesome campus events or anything I can take him to, let me know! :)
My yoga classes across the street are going really well. I like my instructor a lot, and I can tell that I'm starting to develop a little more grace and ease in some of the poses I've been working on. She also chooses some intriguing topics for class. Today we were all 'yoga artists' and tried to espress ourselves as much as we could through our asana practice. It was almost like being in a dance class. :P
My Fall Break plans: Yeah. I am really sorry to those of you out there who have asked me to do things over break. I know I've been wishy-washy about it. I just wish I could do everything I've been invited to do. At least now I've decided on a plan of action. I cannot afford to go anywhere for the whole break, because if I go off with a friend (espeically to their home) for the entire weekend, I will either a) accomplish nothing, or b) be a really horrible guest because I am trying really hard to do research for my term paper. Because of this, I have decided to stay on campus, co-DM a Red Dwarf game for a few hours on Sunday, and go to the Japanese market with Vera and Gina on Monday-Tuesday. It should be fun! Laura and Anna Kate, I will make it up to you somehow. >.<
I seem to have a gift. It is a very interesting gift to have as an SA. Without fail, all the boyfriends on the floor I live on end up noticing my room, coming in at some point (usually with the GF), and discussing videogames with me. On Sunday, I woke up to find a note on my white board saying "We need to play videogames together sometime!" - Jon (Bridget's BF)" It was adorable, and I think I'd have a lot of fun socializing with them. I just think it's hilarious how I get to know some of my residents through the BFs that notice me because I play videogames.
My trip to Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory this weekend was amazing. Woods Hole is a BEAUTIFUL town on Cape Cod, and I actually got to visit the beach! YAAAY! The talks on sea urchins were also very informative, but my absolute favorite talk was about sea squirts. Apparently, a certain gene pathway, if mutated, can make them have two heart chambers instead of one. This could actually explain how fish/amphibian/mammalian hearts developed, which is just really cool to think about. Oh, Evolution... *needs to tell Stan about this talk*
Lastly, I would like to take a minute to gush about the Everworld campaign. SO MUCH FUN. I actually got a lot of character development stuff done while at Woods Hole. Looks like Clair will be a decently fleshed out character. Hehe...and my Dead Inside character should be fun too, but I still need to work some stuff out with Vera and Gina. Muahaha.
